Harvesting precious Angora rabbit baby wool with patience, care, and a very squirmy little lady.
Every Angora rabbit only produces their baby coat once in their lifetime. That first coat is often incredibly soft, beautifully fine, and something many fiber lovers treasure. This week it was Miss
Be My Baby’s turn for her very first haircut.
Miss Be My Baby was the star of my Monday Live session, and let’s just say she made sure I earned every ounce of that wool. This little lady was never aggressive, but she was definitely impatient. She had places to be and things to do and sitting still for a careful harvest was not high on her list.
When working with young Angoras, patience becomes the most important tool you have. My two biggest goals during this session were simple. First, safely harvest that precious bunny gold. Second, make the entire experience as calm and pleasant as possible for her.
She may have been squirmy, but with a slow and steady approach we were able to carefully work through the coat and save a beautiful harvest. Miss Be My Baby is only 8 months old and produced an impressive 5.7 ounces of prime Angora fiber from this first clip.
That baby coat is incredibly soft and luxurious, exactly the kind of fiber hand spinners dream about. It’s one of the many reasons Angora wool has long been considered one of the most luxurious natural fibers in the world.
Miss Be My Baby also made a brief appearance in another video—and oh my goodness… it’s one of those moments where you just have to laugh, because otherwise I might be crying!
The night before the show, she decided to chew out her entire front section. UGH. Silly rabbit.
But not all is lost! I was still able to get a really nice harvest from her, and now we’re planning a very special date night with a stunning Chocolate Agouti Giant Angora buck. I cannot wait to see what these babies turn out like—cross your fingers for us! 💛🐰
Watching young rabbits mature and produce their first coats is always exciting here at the rabbitry. Each one has their own personality, and Miss Be My Baby certainly brought plenty of personality to this harvest.
Looking ahead, I’ll continue grooming and harvesting from the herd as coats come ready. Each harvest teaches us a little more about the rabbit, the fiber, and the rhythm of the rabbitry.
And sometimes, it reminds us of that patience really is the most important skill we can bring to the grooming table.

PS I’ve been doing a little spring cleaning on my websites lately—slowly transitioning more items from my Etsy shop over to my Sinfully Soft website, double-checking inventory, and getting everything organized just the way I like it. Of course, as I go through all this gorgeous fiber and yarn, I keep catching myself daydreaming about knitting it all up for myself!
But… I suppose I’ll share these beautiful goodies with you too 💛🐰
Spring cleaning has begun here at the rabbitry. I have posted several fleeces for sale on my Sinfully Soft website and am offering a 25% discount on select fleeces as part of our Spring-Cleaning Sale. Angora Wool | Sinfully Soft Angora
