Giant Angora Rabbit Show Recap: A Joyful Day at the Kennewick Washington Rabbit Show

Even perfectly groomed show rabbits can surprise you on show day

Yesterday I had an absolute blast at the rabbit show in Kennewick, Washington. Rabbit shows are always fun, but this one was especially enjoyable. All the girls were looking fantastic, and it was so nice spending the day surrounded by fellow rabbit people who understand both the joy and the occasional chaos that comes with raising rabbits.

One of my favorite things about bringing Giant Angoras to a show is watching people’s reactions. These big fluffy rabbits just make people smile. Kids stop in their tracks. Adults lean in to get a closer look at the wool. All are asking if they can pet it? And before long someone is asking, “Is that rabbit real?”

Yes… very real. And very fluffy.

Rabbit shows are also a wonderful chance to reconnect with friends. I saw several people I haven’t seen in a while and had the pleasure of meeting some new friends too. The Angora community is full of passionate people who truly appreciate these rabbits, and it’s always refreshing to spend a day sharing stories and enjoying a little friendly competition in the showroom.

Of course, if you’ve shown rabbits before, you already know something else is guaranteed.

Things don’t always go according to plan.

In the short video I shared from the show, you’ll see a little glimpse of real show day life. Even though I spend months primping and pampering these girls to get them ready for the show table, sometimes things still go sideways. A coat won’t sit quite right. A rabbit decides to be a little silly. Or something unexpected happens right when you thought everything was perfect.

And honestly… that’s part of the joy.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh at yourself, laugh at those silly rabbits, and remember why we do this in the first place. It’s about the animals we love, the friendships we build, and the memories we make along the way.

By the end of the day all the lovely ladies were tucked safely back into their travel carriers and eventually back into their cozy beds at home. I was just as exhausted as they were. After settling everyone back into the barn, I happily shared the highlights of the day with my husband Kevin. I went to sleep tired, but smiling.

Back here at the homestead the fuzzy fun continues. We’re now into lambing season, so keep watch for more adorable little lamb photos coming soon.

Monday morning I’ll be going live on YouTube at 10:00 AM PST to sheer Miss Be My Baby, giving her a thorough haircut rather than the “major trim” she gave herself just before the show. For this lovely lady, her spring show season has come to an end and motherhood may soon be in her future.
