A Two-Level Community Structure for Supporting Colored Giant Angoras

Updated: 17 hours ago

Exciting News!

Updated 5/22/26 We have chosen a name; the Village Elders and We are opening the doors!

Updated 5/24/26 We are developing a brand new free classified ads section on a private Sinfully Soft page, available only to approved Village Elders.

The Colored Giant Angora Village is being created to bring together people who love, support, breed, or are simply curious about colored Giant Angoras.

My hope is to build something positive, encouraging, and useful. A place where we can learn together, cheer each other on, share what we know, and help move colored Giant Angoras forward with kindness and teamwork.

Our first big focus is Chocolate Agouti Giant Angoras, with Lynx and Opal also very close to my heart as future color goals.

This project is not about one person or one rabbitry. It is about building a village.

Because boy howdy, this really is going to take a village.

Purpose

The goal of the Colored Giant Angora Village is to support the future of colored Giant Angoras through education, encouragement, breeder networking, stock development, and long-term planning.

Color is exciting. Believe me, I know it is exciting. But color alone is not enough. We want beautiful colored Giants with good type, good wool, good health, good temperaments, and the kind of quality that helps move the breed forward in a positive way.

To keep things organized, the Colored Giant Angora Village will have two levels of participation.

Level One: The Giant Village Elders

The Village Elders will be the smaller, more focused working group for active breeders.

Don't let the term "Elders" fool ya. This group has absolutely nothing to do with your age, or experience in Angoras.

This group IS for breeders who are currently breeding Chocolate Agouti and/or other colored Giant Angoras, or who are seriously working toward doing so.

This is where we can roll up our sleeves a little more and talk through the hands-on breeder stuff, including litters, promising juniors, breeding plans, stock evaluations, transport, show planning, and future ARBA presentation goals.

A major goal of this group is to do our very best to have quality Chocolate Agouti Giant Angoras available for the 2028 ARBA Convention.

Now, let’s be real. Rabbits do not always read the plan. Breedings do not always take. Litters do not always give us what we hoped for. Juniors can look amazing one month and make us scratch our heads the next.

So, this is not about making impossible promises. This is about good faith. It is about saying, “I am willing to try. I am willing to help. I am willing to work with others to move this forward.”

The Village Elders are not meant to be snobby, exclusive, or closed off. This is simply the working room for the folks doing the breeding, raising, evaluating, hauling, showing, and planning needed to move these colors forward.

Village Elders Expectations

Members of The Village Elders should be willing to:

  • Actively breed or seriously develop colored Giant Angoras.

  • Work toward producing quality Giant Angoras with good type, wool, health, and temperament.

  • Share honest updates on litters, breeding plans, promising stock, and challenges.

  • Communicate respectfully about strengths, faults, color, type, wool quality, and breeding goals.

  • Support one another with kindness, patience, and transparency.

  • When possible, offer promising colored Giant stock within the Village Elder group before offering it publicly.

  • Work together toward the goal of having suitable Chocolate Agouti Giant Angoras available for the 2028 ARBA Convention.

Benefits of being a Village Elder

The Village Elder group may include:

  • First opportunity to purchase, trade, or place promising colored Giant stock among participating breeders.

  • Access to Sinfully Soft's Village Elders Members Only page.

    • New Classified Ads for sharing our available stock within the Elders Group.

  • Private planning discussions for future presentations.

  • Shared tracking of litters, colors, pedigrees, and promising animals.

  • Group brainstorming on breeding pairings and color development.

  • Opportunities to coordinate transport, entries, and animals for major shows.

  • A place to ask honest breeder questions without feeling silly.

  • Recognition as part of the working breeder team helping move colored Giant Angoras forward.

A Spirit of Teamwork

One of the hopes for this group is that participating breeders will support one another by giving fellow Village Elders first opportunity to promising colored Giant stock when possible.

This is not meant to be a heavy-handed rule. It is not meant to tell anyone what they have to do with their own rabbits. It is meant to be a spirit of teamwork.

If we are building this together, let’s help each other build it strong, and Giant Sized.

Village Elders are encouraged to help one another in practical breeder-to-breeder ways, including:

  • Swapping or trading stock when it benefits both programs.

  • Sharing stud service when appropriate.

  • Arranging “date nights” at local shows when safe and practical.

  • Helping evaluate juniors, teenagers, brood stock, and promising show prospects.

  • Sharing honest photos and updates.

  • Coordinating transport when possible.

  • Supporting one another at shows and presentations.

  • Sharing knowledge without making others feel small.

Important Note About Pricing

The Village Elders group does not set, control, or dictate prices.

Each breeder remains fully responsible for setting their own prices, sales terms, trades, leases, stud service agreements, and placement decisions.

However, Village Elders are encouraged to support one another, when possible, by sharing opportunities within the group before offering promising colored Giant stock publicly.

Sometimes that may mean a sale. Sometimes it may mean a trade. Sometimes it may mean a stock swap, stud service arrangement, co-ownership, or helping someone get a better start.

The purpose is not to cheapen anyone’s hard work.

The purpose is to help increase both the quality and quantity of colored Giant Angoras, especially Chocolate Agouti, with Lynx and Opal as close future goals.

Level Two: The Colored Giant Angora Village

The Colored Giant Angora Village is not one single Facebook group or a controlled community space. It is bigger than that. The Village is the whole Angora community coming together to learn about, support, promote, and celebrate colored Giant Angoras. This includes breeders, exhibitors, pet owners, fiber artists, youth, future breeders, supporters, learners, and anyone who wants to cheer on the progress of colored Giants.

No one needs to currently own a colored Giant Angora to belong here. Nobody gets left out.

If you love colored Giant Angoras, want to learn more about them, support the breeders working on them, or simply cheer from the sidelines, there is a place for you in the Village.

The Village will be growing and connecting across many platforms. We may share updates, education, photos, and celebrations through Facebook, Discord, WhatsApp, websites, newsletters, YouTube, shows, and good old-fashioned conversations at the show table.

The goal is simple: share the joy, build enthusiasm, encourage learning, and help the entire Angora community celebrate the progress of colored Giant Angoras together.

Purpose of the Village

The larger Village is here to help the Angora community:

  • Learn about colored Giant Angoras.

  • Celebrate progress and milestones.

  • Share photos, updates, and educational information.

  • Support breeders working on Chocolate Agouti and other colors.

  • Encourage youth and new breeders.

  • Build enthusiasm for colored Giants.

  • Help connect people with reliable information.

  • Keep the community kind, helpful, and drama-free.

About the Village Elders Group

At this time, we will only be maintaining one small, focused working group called the Village Elders. This group is for those who are ready to actively participate in the focused work of building, tracking, evaluating, and supporting the Chocolate Agouti Giant Angora project. This is not limited to the Agoutis; this Village Elders Group is to support and promote all colors!

Because this is a working group, members will be asked to complete a contract and agree to a simple participation agreement. This helps keep the group focused, kind, honest, and productive.

To apply for the Village Elders group, please click the button below. After you apply, you will be sent the agreement. Once the agreement is completed and accepted, one of the admins will admit you into the group.

How the Two Groups Work Together

The Colored Giant Angora Village gives everyone a place to learn, support, and celebrate.

The Village Elders gives active breeders a more focused space to coordinate the hands-on work.

Together, these two groups allow us to stay organized while keeping the doors wide open.

Wrapping This Rant Up

My hope is that this gives us both structure and heart.

To learn more about my plans with the new ARBA COD process watch my live YouTube Videos, see links below! I explain it all!

We need a focused breeder group to help move the COD and colored Giant projects forward, but we also need the larger village because this truly does take a community.

The future of colored Giant Angoras will be built through kindness, teamwork, good information, quality rabbits, and people who are willing to cheer each other on.

Together, we can help build something beautiful for the future of Giant Angoras.

WE HAVE OPENED THE DOORS!

The new Village Elders group is officially up and running. This is a private Facebook group for those who are ready to roll up their sleeves, cheer each other on, and help grow the future of big, beautiful Colored Giant Angoras.
