Big News for Giant Angoras: OFFF Workshop, Judges Conference, and New COD

A behind-the-scenes look at what’s ahead and why the future of Angoras just got brighter

Hey you guys,

Some days in the rabbitry are quiet and steady… and then some days are filled with the kind of news that makes your heart beat a little faster.

Today was one of those days.

I had the chance to share three big updates, and each one connects back to something I care deeply about—education, community, and the future of Giant Angoras.

If you want the full story and all the details, be sure to watch the video.

This is just the beginning!

First, I’ve been invited to prepare a Giant Angora presentation for the upcoming judges conference in Ridgefield, Washington. This is such a meaningful opportunity. Our judges play a huge role in shaping the direction of our breeds, and being able to support them with clear, thoughtful education is something I take very seriously.

If you’ve ever had thoughts about what judges should be looking for, or areas that could use more clarity, I would truly love your input. This is not just my presentation… this is something we can build together.

Second, I’ve officially been approved to teach again at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival this coming fall 2026.

My workshop, From Rabbit to Mill: Sorting & Grading Angora Wool for Market or Mill Runs, is one I am especially excited about. Angora fiber is one of the most luxurious fibers in the world, but its value depends entirely on how it’s handled.

In this class, we’re going to walk through how to properly evaluate, sort, and prepare wool so it can truly shine—whether it’s heading to a handspinner or off to a mill.

This is the kind of knowledge that transforms fiber from “just wool” into a premium product.

And then… there’s the third piece of news.

The new ARBA COD rules. Oh boy howdy… this is the one.

For years, the ARBA COD process felt very closed off. It was something handled quietly, often by a small group, working behind the scenes.

That has changed!

This new structure embraces something I have believed in for a long time—the power of the village. This is no longer a solo journey. This is a community effort.

And for Giant Angoras, this opens up a whole new world.

We now have a real pathway to expand color varieties in a meaningful, collaborative way. Chestnut was just the beginning. Now we can start looking ahead to Chocolate Agouti, Opal, Lynx… and maybe even more.

I am seriously considering stepping forward with the Chocolate Agouti COD.

But I do not want to do this alone.

I want this to be something we build together, openly, with communication between breeders, the NARBC Board, the ARBA Standards Committee, and the entire NARBC membership.

Because this is how breeds grow.

Not in isolation, but through shared knowledge, consistency, and a clear vision.

If you’ve ever thought about contributing to a new variety, this is your moment.

We don’t need perfection overnight. We need people willing to show up.

  • To learn.

  • To collaborate.

  • To build something bigger than themselves.

Because when we expand varieties, we’re not just adding color.

  • We’re adding excitement.

  • We’re adding connection.

  • We're building our community

BTW, if you want to join our Colored Giant Village on Discord, Here's your way in;

We’re creating more reasons for people to stay engaged, to show up at shows, and to fall in love with Angoras all over again. And that right there… is what this is all about.

Stay Fluffy My Friends,

Life’s just better with a Giant Angora hug
