Free Academy access, new t-shirts, and how to protect your Angora wool
There’s something about a Monday morning that feels like a fresh start. A cup of coffee, a list of things to do, and just enough quiet time to gather your thoughts before the day takes off.
That’s exactly where this week’s Angora Artisan Live began—and what unfolded was one of those conversations that every Angora rabbit owner needs to hear.
See My Live YouTube #19 Where I talk about it in depth.
Let’s talk about mites!
Now, I’ll be honest with you. I don’t just dislike mites… I really, truly hate them. Not because they’re scary, but because they quietly do damage—damage to your rabbit’s comfort and to the quality of your wool. And if you’re raising Angoras, that wool matters.
One of the biggest takeaways I hope you carry with you is this: not all flakes are the same. That light, powdery dust you see when blowing out a coat? That’s normal dander. Completely harmless.
But mites? That’s a whole different story.
Mites show up as heavier flakes, almost like dandruff, and they don’t just sit there. They irritate your rabbit, weaken the fiber, and turn what should be soft, flowing wool into something sticky, clumpy, and difficult to work with.
I’ve tried saving mite-affected fiber before. Washing it, dyeing it, even freezing it. And you know what? Those flakes never fully go away.
If we’re creating something beautiful and high-quality, it starts with healthy fiber.
That’s why prevention matters so much.
In my barn, I follow a simple routine:
Monthly Ivomec treatments for maintenance
Weekly treatments if mites are present
Clean cages and clean water—always
And support with diatomaceous earth when needed
It’s not complicated, but it does require consistency.
And here’s the part I say from the heart—if you see mites, don’t share that wool. Not with friends, not with buyers, not with anyone. Keep it, use it yourself, or discard it.
We all do better when we take care of each other.
Now, let’s shift to the fun stuff—because there’s a lot happening right now.
The Angora Artisan Academy is officially live on the Sinfully Soft website. This has been a long time coming, and I am so excited to finally open the doors. For a limited time, you can join for free using the coupon code "YAY".
I’ve also launched eight of my print-on-demand t-shirts, and they’re available right now with 20% off through the end of April using code "COD".
For all my fellow breeders, I’ve opened up free Giant Angora listings on my website. If you’ve ever struggled to connect with buyers or network within the community, this is your place.
We’re also building something really special with the Colored Giant Village—a space where we can learn, collaborate, and grow together. If you’ve even thought about colored Giants, you’re invited.
This journey isn’t just about rabbits. It’s about learning, sharing, and lifting each other up.
Don’t miss anything—subscribe to my YouTube channel and stay connected. There’s so much more coming, and I’d love for you to be part of it.
BTW, if you want to join our Colored Giant Village on Discord, Here's your way in;
We’re creating more reasons for people to stay engaged, to show up at shows, and to fall in love with Angoras all over again. And that right there… is what this is all about.
Stay Fluffy My Friends,
Tammy,
Life’s just better with a Giant Angora hug
